My Life as an Exchange Student in SWEDEN

Finally, I will mention my experience in Sweden in the last part of my blog. I lived in Sweden for only five and a half months, but it was both fun and instructive. At first, I asked myself what I could do in Sweden in a strict sense. I couldn’t come up with an answer regarding which option to choose because I was trying to adapt to the country, the city, and the people. My university started in September, and I had new teachers and new friends.

I think I should clearly mention that I couldn’t get used to speaking English in daily life when I first went to Sweden. For this reason, I couldn’t communicate easily with my course group friends. It was difficult for both me and my friends because of the language differences.

Moreover, the Swedish university education system is very challenging, and the courses include lectures, seminars, company visits, project meetings, project preparation, and assignments. However, I did my best to pass the courses. By the end of the university period, I had passed all the courses. Although it was a difficult period of study for me, I must say it was a great experience for my business life.

Despite the challenging study period, I visited many places in Sweden. One thing I can clearly say is that it was a fun, informative, and unique experience. If you want to get to know a city or a country, you must visit it yourself. I have done that successfully. In Sweden, I have been to Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, Växjö, Älmhult, Huskvarna, Kosta, Oskarshamn, Nybro, and more.

Stockholm is the capital city of Sweden and the largest city. Many people even say that Stockholm is the capital of Scandinavia. Once you come here, you will agree with me about this. There are a lot of attractions in Stockholm. My advice to you is to visit it before Christmas. During this season, there are lights everywhere for the holiday. Despite the cold winter nights, people go shopping at the Christmas market and sit in cafés to meet with friends or relatives. On a cold night in Stockholm, I tasted hot glögg (a traditional spicy hot drink) with my friends, and it was delicious. You can find this taste only in Scandinavia. Some of the places to visit are The Royal Palace (which is still used by the Swedish royal family), the Vasa Museum (which showcases a historical giant wooden ship), and Gamla Stan (the historic part of the city, meaning "Old Town" in Swedish). The best option on Friday nights in the city is to join a taco party at a café.

Other than Stockholm, I have been to two other major cities in Sweden: Gothenburg and Malmö. These cities were also close to the places where I lived, so I could visit them easily whenever I wanted. If I tried to write all my memories from Sweden, I wouldn’t be able to do it. Unfortunately, I need to keep it short.

As a result, during my time in Sweden, I lived a fulfilling life and made many friends. I may have also learned a little bit of a foreign language. Most importantly, I had many wonderful moments. In my opinion, I believe that Erasmus in Sweden paved the way for me to become more open-minded and to learn new things.

Thank you to everyone...
